The Ayahuasca Monologues: Mikki Willis

Description

The Ayahuasca Monologues: Mikki Willis

Presented by Evolver Los Angeles 10/04/2011 at Temple of Visions.

Filmmaker and founding director of Elevate Films, Mikki Willis, shares a most candid and heartfelt story at the EvolverLA Ayahuasca Monologues. Willis’ tale reveals the details of his first truly humbling encounter in being able to purge and release on an ayahuasca journey, one that he had long resisted, too ashamed to be seen letting go. Holed up in a bathroom for hours, Willis’ journey launches him deep into inner space as darkness moves from him and he voyages through reflections of himself that become too brutal to look at in the mirror, yet he can’t escape the truth about his unconscious relationships with women, and ultimately, himself. His is a timeless story about waking to realize that there is always so much more to each moment that we are capable of experiencing, if we can just find the space to let go of our distractions and our fears. It’s a story about growth and acceptance and finding beauty in all things. It’s a dynamic tale about gender and society, and how difficult finding real and lasting love is when we’re caught up in those perceived roles. With his strong but gentle voice, Mikki’s story is completely captivating from start to finish. Like a grand fairy tale, he’s the hero we know will ultimately win out over his own evil forces, and the thrilling details will keep you glued to your seat until the very end.
